CORRECTIONS: (applied May 26, 2005)


Fringe  Cut 10” [25.5 cm] lengths of yarn and attach as follows, evenly spaced along bottom edges: Fold strand in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of Poncho, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten.

GAUGE: 9 double crochet = 4 inches [10 cm].

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

CROCHET RECTANGLE – Make 2

Chain 26 (31).

Foundation Row Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across; turn – 24 (29) double crochet.

Row 1 Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), double crochet in each double crochet across; turn.

Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 22 (25) inches [56 (63.5) cm] from beginning. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

FINISHING

Place marker on long side of first piece, 11 (13) inches [28 (33) cm] from one end.

Sew end of second piece to side of first piece between corner and marker.

Sew end of first piece to side of second piece (matching A to A and B to B as shown on schematic).

Fringe

Cut 10 inches [12.5 cm] lengths of yarn and attach as follows, evenly spaced along bottom edges: Fold strand in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of Poncho, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten.
