Ch 19. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 18 sts. Row 1 Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 6 inches. Fasten off.
ASSEMBLY
Sew together invisibly as per assembly diagram:

To join two pieces together, thread a large-eyed blunt needle with B. Place the edges of the squares side by side with the right sides (the sides that people will see) FACING OUT.
From the right side, stitch up the sides as shown, alternating one square to the other.
OUTSIDE BORDER: Rnd 1With RS facing, join C in any corner of afghan, *work 3 sc in corner, sc evenly across side to next corner, repeat from *, end with slip st to join in top of first sc. Repeat last rnd 5 more times, fasten off.Weave in ends.
