GAUGE:

16 sts + 16 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in single crochet.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

NAPKIN RING

With A, ch 22 loosely.

Row 1 Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across – 21 sc.

Row 2 (RS) Ch 3, turn; work starter star as follows: insert hook in second ch from hook and pull up a loop, insert hook in next ch pull up a loop, insert hook in first sc pull up a loop, (insert hook in next sc pull up a loop) twice – you now have 6 loops on hook; yo and draw through all 6 loops, ch 1 to make eyelet – all first stars will be made this way. Work center stars as follows: *ch 1, insert hook into eyelet of last star, pull up a loop, insert hook through front of last two loops on left side of last star from right to left, pull up a loop, insert hook into same sc as last st of last star, pull up a loop, (insert hook into next sc, pull up a loop) twice – you now have 6 loops on hook; yo and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to form eyelet, repeat from * to end. Last Star work as center stars until you have 4 loops on hook, insert hook into t-ch from row below, pull up a loop, yo and draw through 5 loops.

Row 3 Ch 1, turn. Sc in first st, *sc into eyelet, sc into next st, repeat from * across – 21 sc.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 once more, fasten off.

Finishing With RS facing, sew ends together.

PLCEMAT

With A, ch 60 and work Rows 1-3 as for napkin ring – 59 sts. Change to B and repeat Rows 2 and 3 a total of 13 times, then change to A and work Rows 1 and 2 once more. Fasten off.

Finishing With WS facing and A, work 42 sc along side edge of mat. Ch 3, turn. Work Rows 2 and 3 of pattern once. Fasten off. Repeat along opposite side.

COASTERS

With B, ch 14 and work Row 1. Change to A and repeat Rows 2 and 3 a total of 3 times, work Row 2 once more, change to B and work Row 3 once more. Fasten off.

Finishing With WS facing and B, work 12 sc along side edge. Fasten off. Repeat along opposite side.
